When should baby start solid foods? Will it help w/ constipation?
Our 4-month old daughter is more than double her birth weight, holds up her head and looks around, and seems very interested in adults' food. According to the text books we could start solids anytime. However, our doctor advises us to wait until 6 months because she is less likely to develop allergies if we wait. She has only been pooping about once every few days and the poops are kinda hard and difficult to pass. HERE IS MY MAIN QUESTION: DOES SOLID FOOD HELP RELIEVE CONSTIPATION, OR MAKE IT WORSE? I was thinking that the fiber in baby food might help her bowel movements, in which case we might want to introduce those foods earlier rather than wait two more months. Any advice?
